Science Laboratory Technology in Nigeria is an important branch of science, and our future depends a lot on its condition and development. It is a department under the faculty of School of Applied Sciences.
A graduate of the course are in charge of a variety of tasks
and responsibilities such as the organization and maintenance of laboratory tools and
equipment, data recording, as well as ensuring efficiency and accuracy when
conducting scientific experiments and research.
Laboratory Technicians can take in a wide range of roles
within the laboratory team depending on their area of expertise. They may work
in several branches of scientific research and development, such as Chemistry,
Physics, and Biology and may be employed by companies of various areas,
including Forensics, Cosmetics, Manufacturing, and Pharmacology. Depending on
the field, Technicians may work independently or under the direction of a
professional.
The Department of Science Laboratory Technology is studied as
a course in the National Diploma but is sectioned into four (4) different
options in the Higher National Diploma so as to have a broad knowledge on each
option.

For Direct Entry
After the National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology,
You can apply for direct entry into the university using the grade of
Distinction or Upper credit while some schools also accept Lower credits.
NOTE: For any application for the direct entry, it is
strictly required to go directly to the department of the university in which
you are willing to apply to and ask if they do accept National Diploma in SLT
for the course.
